Most browsers support jumping to specific links or locations on a page by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press CTRL + an access key. Current browsers vary in the way in which access key links are invoked. For example, to jump to the CADTutor home page, in Internet Explorer, press ALT+1 and then <Enter>, in Firefox, press SHIFT+ALT+1 and in Opera, press SHIFT+ESCAPE and then 1.

Standards Compliance

All pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS 2.1.

In general, the site conforms to the Checklist of Checkpoints for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, published by W3C and pages on this site have a conformance level of at least Double-A (WAI-AA).

Accessibility Features

Content first

The structure of pages on this site has been designed in such a way that the markup in the central, content column appears first. This avoids the necessity for those using assistive technologies to run through the left-hand column before reaching the content.

Skip to content

Most pages on this site have "skip to content" links, which are valuable aids for those using assistive technologies.Such users can go straight to the content on any given page without having to run through the global navigation. The links are normally hidden from sighted users but are displayed (top left) when the link attains focus. They can be displayed using repeated presses of the TAB key on a normal keyboard.

Semantic markup and CSS

All pages on this site use structured semantic markup. For example, H1 tags are used for page titles, H2 tags for subtitles. This enables JAWS users to skip to the next section within any page by pressing ALT+INSERT+2.

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
